The Other AR - Topic 4: Ideas for Individual Action Research

Individual Action Research Ideas:

1    Increase Instructor effectiveness with Trainees- broaden current scope of training with trainees by offering an ‘in-the-weeds’ supplement that would contain deeper system/analysis training (i.e. pseudo-Graduate level analyst principles, system details, etc).  ‘Build a better Analyst’ recommendations and steering on advanced level principles.  Possible additions; situation quizzes, tests, and exercises to (possibly) conclude training effectiveness and stimulate further system use by students.

2    Increase analyst knowledge by creating a ‘training experience’- putting scenario based training to use instead of the current “teach by slides, then student applies information contained on slides and executes on the system”.  This would make good use of current training package

3    Creation of a web page accessible to students for ongoing training- currently no ongoing training is provided except for phone support by individual phone consult.  ***This may be possible at my work, or those above me may decide it may be too large of an endeavor given scope, technology, and time I would have at work to work on it.

4    Abandon current multi-slide training packages and instead develop and provide a system ‘walk-thru’ that goes through key areas with specific slides going thru the ‘behind-the-scenes’ work and reliances that the code is doing.  This could be tricky given technology hurdles that may be too large to overcome in a realistic time frame.
