14 April Reflections 7 a.m:
Thinking of transitioning to incorporate IBL learning – more
research based learning. PBL can be
really helpful when used with identifying "work-arounds" to system problems or
system knowledge and trouble-shooting skills development. IBL is what students are already doing as
their job. As analysts, their job is to
research and identify all details surrounding a topic in order to make a
decision or determination.
Plans for IBL concepts to use with students:
- Ask the student to do something out of their “norm”
- Betterment of skills through rigorous engagement of concepts
- Application of knowledge they possess but do not use or apply often
Spoke with other classmates and a new trainee to discuss a
new, fun, different way of approaching this portion of two-days of training (of
four total).
Instructor gave
student a few topics to learn/research:
Student
research to prepare information for new “Student-Instructor” & other
classmates.
Student
to present findings to other classmates.
Goal: demonstrate Active Participation & Learning
through IBL. Additionally, allow
characterization of how the student synthesized information/data researched
with reference to how they will use this information with the software they
work with.
